fairtrade

Saint Peter’s Church, Onehunga, is committed to building a more just world. A part of this commitment is our Fair Trade community. Fair Trade ensures that the producers of goods in the developing world are paid a fair and regularised price for their products. This enables producers to develop clean water supplies, build roads, schools and medical facilities, and make investments to increase productivity. Fair Trade goods are also produced to strict ethical standards - meaning no child labour and high environmental standards.

We support the Fair Trade movement in the following ways:
  • a monthly stall for parishioners to buy Fair Trade goods
  • a monthly community stall on Onehunga Mall for the public to buy Fair Trade goods (weather permitting each Wednesday after the third Sunday of each month, from 11.30am - 1.00pm)
  • ongoing community education about Fair Trade
  • we are beginning to build a Fair Trade community with other organisations in Onehunga
